Karibu! The Cultural Arts Centre is a hub of artistic talent, aiming to promote the arts in Zanzibar. The Cultural Arts Centre provides the resources for disadvantaged Zanzibaris to learn valuable artisanal skills which they can use to increase their own financial independence. Additionally, we use our space in Stone Town to give a platform to artists where they can display and sell their work.

We understand that many local Zanzibaris are not given the opportunity to benefit from their own talents. The Cultural Arts Centre’s mission is to bring artists together, teach, learn, and move forward as one.

Products

At the Cultural Arts Centre Zanzibar, we offer a wide variety of local and international artwork from across the region with an emphasis on Zanzibari artists. In addition to paintings on canvas, we feature countless smaller watercolor, ink, and charcoal pieces on paper that are perfect to travel home with!

The Centre also produces a number of craft items such as handmade organic soaps, sustainable paper jewelry, and stationery. Our uniquely crafted and highly popular soaps are featured in hotels across Zanzibar, providing enriching moisture to all skin types due to their distinctive blend of shea butter and essential oils.

Services

The Cultural Arts Centre gives instructional lessons to members of the community that entrust them with the skills to make artisanal goods which they can sell in order to improve their quality of life.

The Cultural Arts Centre also holds workshops teaching these same skills to tourists so that members of our global community can understand our ways of life and work toward prosperity on a deeper level.
